    Philadelphia artist Mikel Elam studied at University of the Arts, Philadelphia and graduated with a BFA in painting and a minor in art history. Elam also attended The School of the Visual Arts, New York masters program. He worked in the art department of various films as a painter and set design assistant. Introduced to jazz legend, Miles Davis, Elam became his personal and his studio assistant, and worked for him until his death in 1991. Elam moved back to Philadelphia in 1997 where he has developed his practice and gained recognition. Recent awards in Philadelphia include a Fitler Club artist residency, a 2021 Mural Arts Fellowship Grant, and a Brandywine Workshop & Archives Fellowship in 2019. Elam has exhibited his work in solo exhibitions at Rutgers University, Camden, the Boston Street Gallery and the Cerulean Arts Gallery, and been included in the Woodmere Museum of Art's 79th and 80th juried exhibition, the Morris Arts/ATA Gallery, Morristown NJ and the Brandywine Workshop & Archive.

Packing and shipping costs will be noted on the invoice mailed to successful bidders after the sale, and are based on the actual costs involved.
