(MILITARY--WORLD WAR II.) TUSKEGEE AIRMEN. They Were Our Finest.

(MILITARY--WORLD WAR II.) TUSKEGEE AIRMEN. They Were Our Finest. Bronze medallion, 3.75 cm, three faces on obverse, and three planes, "99, 332, 422, Tuskegee Airmen Inc" on the reverse; patina consistent with age; some discoloration, possibly from something acidic. Np, circa 1950's

  • Notes: A very interesting medal, the first we have ever seen, depicting a pilot, a mechanic and a woman, possibly nurse on the face of the medallion, and three airplanes, each with the number of the squadron on its side. An impressive piece of medallic art. The Tuskegee Airmen Inc. is a non-profic organization formed for veterans of the several squadrons, their mechanics et al.
