  • Notes: first edition in english of the first 3 books of Tartaglia's 1546 Quesiti et Inventioni Diverse, dealing with ballistics and expanding on his 1537 Nova Scientia, the first systematic treatise on the subject.     Bound with the first edition of The Compleat Gunner, which appeared both as a separate publication and as the third of the three parts in the 1672 collection Military and Maritine [sic] Discipline attributed to Thomas Venn. It comprises sections on founding and casting ordnance, gunnery instructions and calculations, pyrotechnics, and translations of writings by Galileo and Torricelli on ballistics.
