MILNER GRAY

FAIR LAND OF KENT. 1922.
40x25 inches. Corquodale, London.
Condition B+: repaired tears and creases in margins; creases in image; horizontal fold.
On January 1, 1923 Britain's disorganized railway network was consolidated into four distinct companies. "The railway network itself had grown rapidly during the 19th century but in a disorganized way. Lines were built by private companies and there was much overlapping of territory and duplication of routes" (Railway p. 6). This early and rare poster for travel to Kent predates the consolidation and was published by the Cambrian Railways and (perhaps)the South Eastern Railway.
