Jews in Russia were aware of the significance and importance of assembling a congress, and word went out to the Jewish communities in dramatic terms: "The Jewish people in Russia now faces an event which has no parallel in Jewish history for two thousand years. Not only has the Jew as an individual, as a citizen, acquired equality of rights . . . but the Jewish nation looks forward to the possibility of securing national rights. Never and nowhere have the Jews lived through such a serious, responsible moment as the present--responsible to the present and the future generations." (The Jews in the Soviet Union Since 1917, by Nora Levin. New York University Press, 1990, p. 8). Very few posters exist from this era of unprecedented religious and social freedom for the Jews of Russia. This is another image calling on Jews to vote for members of the upcoming all-Russian Jewish Congress. Previously unreferenced.
