(MORMONS.) [Grünwald-Zerkowitz, Sidonie.] Die Lieder der Mormonin.
(MORMONS.) [Grünwald-Zerkowitz, Sidonie.] Die Lieder der Mormonin. 97 pages, printed on both sides of 5 sheets and pasted together end-to-end into a continuous 5 x 137-inch strip, affixed to 2 turned wooden spindles, each with stamped morocco title bands as issued; browned, several tears, some repaired with paper tape; clean vertical separation on page 2/50, glue stains between pages 9 and 10 obscuring several letters which are made up in manuscript. Leipzig: Hermann Dürselen, 1887
- Notes: first edition. "A cycle of poems depicting the sad lot of a polygamous Mormon woman"--Flake 3735 (for later editions). Thousands of Mormon converts left Germany for America in the mid-nineteenth century. This anti-Mormon work by a Jewish Austrian woman went through numerous editions, but only one other copy of this unusually formatted first edition is listed on WorldCat, while another is cataloged as erotic literature at the Austrian National Library. A handsome presentation of a significant work.
