Muratti and Sons, Ltd., a manufacturer of luxury cigarettes, was one of the first to introduce packs of cigarettes on the market around 1890 Muratti cigarettes quickly developed into an extremely popular brand smoked all over the world. The origins of this poster, which was obviously targeted at a German- speaking market, is quite mysterious, with no printer, no artist, and no date, although we guess its date to be sometime in the 1930s. The image itself is interesting and unusual: a pair of red lips curved sensuously around a cigarette against a dark background with red and white lettering. The brand name can only be seen by looking closely atthe details on the cigarette. A very elegant and striking advertisement!
