Greek text, also including Latin translation of De piscibus by Lorenzo Lippi. 166, [2] leaves, including blanks n7-8, colophon leaf, and final leaf with Aldine device on verso. Together, 2 volumes in one. 8vo, 159x89 mm, contemporary German blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards, historiated roll border around center panel with vertically arranged ornamental tools, ties lacking; minor stains on last leaf of the first volume.   • Notes: Second Aldine edition of Musaeus after the Aldine first edition in the original Greek circa 1495, containing the first edition of the poem attributed to Orpheus on gems and their properties; bound with the first aldine and first complete edition of the writings by Oppian on angling and on hunting with dogs, the former of these texts having been printed separately in 1515 by the Giunta press in Florence. Renouard, page 81(8-9); New UCLA 159-60; Hoffmann II, 605, III, 30, and III, 30. superb sammelband in original condition, from the library of the basel scholar-printer johann herwagen (1497-1558), with his signature on the first title page.
