Musee De L'Affiche. 1978 43.75 x 29.5 inches. Condition A. A former assistant of Cassandre, Savignac was one of the most prominent Frenchposter artists in the postwar period. his clever visual gags and bright, cheery style helped him to create popular characters that sold a brand or product without words. Savignac was commissioned to do hundreds of posters, and he always found what others were desperately chasing: a brilliant concept. When the poster museum opened in Paris, Savignac was the obvious choice to design the poster and once more, he did a great job. In the image, a museum guard, bowing to the public, becomes a folding poster. Today, at the age of 94, Savignac is alive and well and still active. his recent posters are as engaging and youthful as ever! ref. Catalogue Savignac, Musee de la Publicite, Paris, 1982 - no.93 reproduced.
