  • Notes: "Dear Sir and Bro:" Kirk writes to Edward Bailey at the musicians union local in Los Angeles to confirm the wages he earned at the Club Congo. He explains how after the singer Beverly White did not show up for the gig, they renegotiated the fee. Andrew Dewey Kirk (1898-1992) was a jazz saxophone and tuba player best known as bandleader of the "Twelve Clouds of Joy," popular during the swing era.
