"STONED" (MUSIC.) PARKER, CHARLIE. Untitled photograph of Charlie Parker, being supported by Dizzy Gillespie and an unidentified white man, possibly a waiter. 8x10 glossy photograph; some wrinkling and a short, closed tear to the bottom right corner, not affecting the image. Np, circa 1945

  • Notes: rare candid photograph of a very high flying "yardbird." Charlie Parker was a known heroin user and heavy drinker. Dizzy Gillespie, part of Parker's original quintet, left the group in late 1945 because of Parker's habitual lateness or complete non-appearance at their gigs. He was replaced by Miles Davis.
