(MUSIC.) STOWE, HARRIET BEECHER. Uncle Tom's Cabin.

(MUSIC.) STOWE, HARRIET BEECHER. Uncle Tom's Cabin. Cloth-backed brown velvet banner-like sign, with appliqué green lettering, bottom of the piece cut in the shape of an "M" with delicate pendant tasseling, mounted on an iron rod. Kansas City, MO: Baker-Lockwood Co., circa 1895-1910

  • Notes: A beautiful banner for a traveling company, probably meant to be hung outside the theatre. We have tentatively dated the present banner by the active dates of the company that made it and the materials used to make it. The Baker-Lockwood Company was founded in Chicago in 1847, but after the great fire of 1871, moved to Kansas City.
