56 items in one volume. Folio, 13 x 10 inches, contemporary ½ sheep, minor wear; intermittent foxing and wear to contents; original owner's label "M.W. Fuller" on front board, and a few pieces inscribed "Martha W. Fuller," several pieces with inked stamps from early Boston music sellers.

  • Notes: Stephen Foster songs include "History ob de World" and "Old Uncle Ned" with illustrated covers as printed for the "Jim Crow Jubilee" in 1847; "My Brudder Gum" (New York, 1853); "Angelina Baker" (Baltimore, MD, 1850); "Camptown Races: A Favorite Ethiopian Song" (early edition but not first,  Baltimore, 1850); and "Nelly Was a Lady" (stated 10th edition, New York, 1849). 

    Others from the minstrelsy tradition include E.P. Christy's "Old Folks at Home" for Christy's Minstrels (stated 20th edition, New York, 1851); Ethiopian Serenaders, "Chloe's to be My Wife," and "De Color'd Fancy Ball" (Illustrated cover); and many others. 

    Another highlight is Major Norton's "Rough & Ready, a Patriotic Song Dedicated to Gen. Zachary Taylor." Illustrated cover; one in OCLC, at Johns Hopkins. Boston, 1847.
