Three atlas volumes from the series, picturing insects, animals, birds, zoophytes, fish, mollusks, and crustacea and containing a total of 288 plates. The sections on birds, animals, crustacea, fishes, mollusks, and zoophytes consist of the plates in two states, as mounted India proofs and as hand-colored engraved plates; remaining sections appear only as India proofs. Folio, modern non-uniform 1/2 calf or contemporary 1/4 morocco, earlier binding very worn; the hand-colored plates are universally darkened and unsightly, the proofs tend to be quite clean and unblemished, though their mounts are sometimes darkened.
