(NEW MEXICO.) Marriage petition signed by a colonial governor of Nuevo Mexico. Partial manuscript document, 7 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, signed by Fray Francisco de Hozio and endorsed by governor Fernando de la Concha, "Como lo pide, Concha"; torn irregularly and lacking bottom half of the document. Santa Fe, NM, 18 January 1793

  • Notes: Governor Fernando de la Concha is perhaps best remembered for sending a party to establish a trade route from Santa Fe to St. Louis in 1792; this evolved into the Santa Fe Trail. In this document he approves the petition of soldier Juan García de la Mora to marry a local girl named María Concepción García.
