DIARY RECORDING EUROPEAN TRIP TAKEN TO CLAIM NOBEL PRIZE (NOBEL LAUREATES.) MINOT, GEORGE R. Autograph Manuscript Signed, twice, his personal journal kept during trip between Boston and Stockholm during which he received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, in ink or pencil, concerning the managing of luggage and family members, descriptions of weather and life aboard ship, accounts of visits to clinics and hospitals, and accounts of ceremonies including the Nobel awards ceremony, written in an abbreviated and slightly cryptic style. Over 100 pages of holograph narrative, plus over 20 pages of holograph lists or accounting, plus over 10 pages of typed notes. 12mo, leatherette 3-ring binder; some toning and short closed tears to edges of pages near front or rear. "Nov 17 . . . . Commodore Kruse, nice fellow. Knows [Frederick J.] Fessenden of the school near Boston. Kruse been around world 13x. . . . In his quarters canary been around world 6 times! Also a finch--pretty bird. Hitler autographed picture & same for Von Hindenbergh [Paul von Hindenburg] on the wall. Later introduced to Prof Dr. Paul Strassman[n] & wife, prominent gynecologist Berlin. . . ."

With--A similar holograph diary by Minot's colleague, Richard Pratt Stetson (1898-1983), who accompanied him on his trip, recording events, keeping lists of contacts and expenses, etc. Over 70 pages. 12mo, leatherette 3-ring binder • Small group of printed business cards, a few for people Minot met during the trip, including one with Minot's holograph note, and some for Minot himself which did not get distributed to others. 2½x5 inches or smaller • Small group of unused luggage labels for "HAPAG" [the Hamburg America Line]. 3x2¼ inches • Small group of letters and a telegram to Minot from various people, including an autograph letter from his father James Jackson Minot in Boston dated November 11, 1934.
