    first edition, signed by coward and three members of the original cast
    (Allen, Lawrence, and Olivier). Private Lives opened at the Phoenix Theatre in London starring Noel Coward as Elyot Chase, Laurence Olivier as Victor Prynne, Gertrude Lawrence as Amanda Prynne, and Adrianne Allen as Sybil Chase. A Broadway production followed in 1931.
