"Picasso Before 1907" was shown at Knoedler Galleries, New York from October 15 to November 8, 1947, as a loan exhibition to benefit the Public Education Association. Picasso (1881-1973) and a group of nine New York galleries, including Knoedler, mounted a second exhibition for the Public Education Association in the spring of 1962. From 1895 to 2000, the volunteer organization promoted and advocated for New York City public schools.
