PABLO PICASSO
Rembrandt et jeune fille de profil.

Etching, drypoint and grattoir on Montval laid paper, 1934. 135x205 mm; 5 3/8x8 1/8 inches, full margins. One of only a few artist's proofs before steel-facing, aside from the printing of approximately 59 impressions after steel-facing. Signed dated "Paris le 27 Avril 1942" and dedicated "pour Frélaut" in pencil, lower margin. Printed by Lacourière, Paris. Vollard watermark. A superb impression of this extremely scarce, early proof.

The dedicatee Jacques Frélaut was, along with Roger Lacourière, one of Picasso's principal intaglio printers. Bloch 278; Geiser 420.
