After Jules Cheret, he was the most prolific and most successful poster artist of his era. He could adapt to any commission, being wild and sexy when it pleased the client or taking a more sober and classic approach, as in this poster. His clients were clearly satisfied, as A La Place Clichy continued calling on his services.
