One in a series of photomontage images promoting travel to the far flung corners of the globe. Here, a DC-2 soars over a totem pole and an eskimo native. The Alaskan flag featuring the seven stars from the constellation Ursa Major (the Big Dipper) and an eighth star (the North Star) to represent the northernmost state, was designed in 1926, but wasn't adopted for state use until 1959.
