The diary was among Pepy's manuscripts kept at Magdalene College, and it was the Master of Magdalene College (the Hon. and Rev. George Neville) who was responsible for having it published after John Evelyn's memoirs were published in 1818. The half-titles in this copy read "Presentation Copy," printed in red.
