Australia's Mt. Buffalo National Park was established in 1898, in Victoria, northeast of Melbourne. The Mt. Buffalo Chalet, nicknamed "The Grand Old Lady," was built in 1910, and from that moment on, the area became not only a destination for skiers and hikers, but for travelers seeking an elegant elevated retreat as well. At an altitude of 1337 meters (4386 feet), the complex's clifftop location gave eager sightseers panoramic views of the alpine valley below. Here, Trompf depicts the Chalet in its heyday below the image of a well-dressed vacationer illuminated by the setting sun as he takes in the expansive scenery below.
