The Forerunner, Volumes I-VII; Family Association Set; Four Volumes Signed or Inscribed by the Author.

New York: The Charlton Company for C.P. Gilman, 1909-1916.

A complete run of seven volumes, each bound in full publisher's terra cotta cloth, stamped with title and illustration to front board; most inscribed by Perkins Gilman to her second husband, George Houghton Gilman (1867-1934), each volume bearing added inscriptions by Perkins Gilman's only child, daughter Katharine Beecher Stetson (1885-1979) passing the books along to the author's grandson Walter Stetson Chamberlin (1920-2019) in 1954; some signs of wear to bindings, fore-edge of back board slightly chewed away on the first volume, each 9 1/2 x 6 1/4 in., occupying 7 1/2 inches of shelf space.

Perkins Gilman was responsible for all of the material published in The Forerunner. As a platform for her editorials, reviews, poetry and fiction, she also wrote novels and released them as serials in this periodical publication. Some of the more famous works that see print in these pages include Moving the Mountain; Herland; With Her in Ourland; Man-Made World; What Diantha Did; The Crux; Mag-Marjorie; Won Over; and Begnina Machiavelli.
