[10], 264 leaves. 4to, early spotted calf, minor wear; repairs in margins to plate and first 6 text leaves and several leaves near end, minor dampstaining, modern inscription on final page, final leaf laid down (obscuring colophon on verso); early signature on title page, gift inscription on front flyleaf, collector's bookplate on front pastedown. In modern cloth folding case.

  • Notes: First edition. A history of the Inca empire, compiled by the son of a conquistador and an Inca princess. Not generally found with the second part, issued eight years later. European Americana 609/44; Medina BHA 549; Palau 354788; Sabin 98757. 

    Provenance: New Mexico Governor LeBaron Bradford Prince (1840-1922) per his bookplate; sold in 1965 by Gov. Prince's son William Bradford Prince (1882-1968) to Tony Garcia per inscription; collection of Dr. Ward Alan Minge (1924-2021), renowned New Mexico historian and founder of Casa San Ysidro.
