With 29 mounted albumen prints depicting the pastoral scenery along the great Marne River, including images of the inhabitants, landscape, small towns, and bridges. Large 4to, gilt-lettered boards with a leather backstrip, rubbed and lightly worn; text block reinforced, foxing and small areas of soiling throughout (usually not affecting the plates), many plates with dark, rich tonality. first edition.   • Condition: The binding of this album is in good condition. The front and rear covers are recovered with brown leatherette and rubbed, and the corners are bumped; the gilt-lettered morocco backstrip is a bit worn. There's light soiling throughout and scattered foxing, mostly on the endpapers.

    Internally the photographs are in good to very good condition. Twenty-six of the albumen prints are approximately 6 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches (15.8x12.0 cm.) and smaller and affixed to a two-toned mount. There are 3 prints on the title and introductory pages that are about 3 x 4 1/4 inches (7.6x10.8 cm.) and also appear on a two-mounted mount. The overall size of each of the mounts is 11 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches (29.8x22.2 cm.).
