Silver print, 20 x 27inches, flush-mounted. 1945; printed later E5000-6000 This print was featured in an exhibition entitled "Forty Years of Victory," which was on display, in 1985, in the Soviet Union. It is featured in the book The Photographs Of Margaret Bourke-White (New York, 1972), p. 148. p. 148. The caption tion reads: "Dr. Kurt Lisso, Leipzig's City Treasurer, and his wife and daughter (in the Red Cross uniform) took poison Just as American tanks rolled into the city... In the closing moments of the war the Nazis told the German people to expect savage treatment from the conquering Americans: the action produced hundreds of suicides like these.
