[ Photographs ] Coburn, Alvin Langdon Group of 13 photogravures, featuring 4 untitled large-format views from northern Europe, together with "The Door in the Wall," "On the Embankment" and "The Tower" (from London), "The Chinese Quarter" (from New York), as well as "The Bridge - Sunlight," a study of 2 trees, woman with an urn, a view of ships in harbor, and a small-format image of a brick house. Photogravures, various sizes from 14.25 x 11 or the reverse to 2.25 x 3 inches, one with a facsimile signature on recto. 1905-08 E3000-4000 An outstanding group of images that bears witness to the extent of Coburn's participation in the production of his photogravures. Coburn prepared the a plates, ground the inks and pulled Proofs, with the result that "in my hands photogravure produced results which can be considered as 'original prints,' and which I would not hesitate to sign." Perhaps the finest proof of this remark can be seen in Coburn's large-format photogravures, of which only six were produced most landscapes from the photographer's 1908 travels to Bavaria and Holland) and a limited number of prints were run, See: Alvin Langdon Coburn, An Autobiography, p. 76
