[ Photographs ] ( Gagarin Yuri Album entitled "Yuri Gagarin" containing more than 40 photographs relating to the first cosmonaut, comprising 30 unmounted photographs and 14 loose prints depicting Gagarin, his official entourage, family members, including his wife, Andrian Nikolaivev (the third cosmonaut, as well as a few pictures of Valentina Terishkova, the first female to blast off into space. Silver prints and one chromagenic color print, 10 x 8inches and (most) smaller, one with a handstamp, in Cyrillic, on verso identifying the photographer as V Cheredinsteva: two are signed by comrades other than Gagarin. Homemade oblong 4to, hand-lettered printed stiff wrappers. 1960s E1500-2000 The album features many candid pictures of a dapper Gagarin enjoying Soviet-style celebrityhood: visiting hospitals, dancing and partying, posing with Politburo bigshots, and generally looking like the happy hero. The Io photographs that are laid in show a uniformed Gagarin in more formal circumstances, conferring with military figures or other cosmonauts.
