Vintage silver print with original airbrushing, 13.25 x 7.75inches, with a handstamp on mount verso. 1940 E1800-2200 Tamara Toumanova was called "The Black Pearl" of the Russian ballet. A child prodigy, she was a baby ballerina with the Ballet Russe from 1932-33 Known for her extraordinary balance, Toumanova danced with everybody and was considered the most glamorous of the Russian emigre ballerinas. She married Casey Robinson, one of Hollywood's greatest screewriters (he wrote "For "om the Bell Tolls"), and appeared in several films in the 1950s-60s.
