[ Photographs ] (Indochina) Album entitled "Vues de Saigon" containing 35 photographs, the majority images of that city's palaces official and commercial buildings, as well as street scenes, several photographs of masted ships in dry dock, a portrait of a local royal, attired in his uniform Jacket, culottes and spats, as well as 2 views of the Carmelite convent, another of a pagoda, and several of local scenes, such as housing alongside a canal, a large group of laborers at a waterway, and a finely painted gouache monogram. Albumen prints, and one gouache, mounted one per page, recto and verso, various sizes from 8.5 x 10.5 to 4.5 x 6.5 inches, 3 signed "Jugant" in the negative 11 titled in French, in a period hand, in red ink, on mount and 2 titled in a period hand, in French, in pencil; the gouache, titled, dated and signed, in pencil, on recto, and the royal portrait titled, in Vietnamese (?) and signed, in a period hand, in ink, on mount recto Oblong 4to, three-quarter leather, scuffed, extremities worn, gilt-lettered. 1870s
