Albumen prints, each panel measures 15x 20.5inches, overall size 15 x 100 inches, with the photographer's son's blindstamp on recto; canvas backed. 1870s E3500-4500 James Anderson 1813-1877, an English watercolor artist settled in Rome and, in 1849, became interested in photography. he began to produce views of the Eternal City that were purchased by enthusiasts on their Grand Tours. Anderson studio flourished throughout his lifetime, and his work was carried on by his son andgrandsons until the 1960s. This gigantic panorama was apparently printed by his son, whose first name starts with the initial " D,"from negatives by Anderson pere.
