[ Photographs ] Job, Charles Group of 5 Pictorialist images, 4 of the English countryside, and one scene of a valley in Normandy.Vintage carbon prints, 4 are approximately 10.5 x 14inches, and one the reverse, 4 titled and/or signed and dated by the photographer, in ink, on verso; one with a typewritten caption label, one with job's handstamp, and 2 with exhibition labels affixed to mount verso. 1920s E2000-3000 Charles Job, who began photographing in 1870, was an English Pictorialist whose works followed the tradition set by Peter Henry Emerson-that of capturing the life and rural setting of English country folk. Job's prints became known internationally, were praised by, among others, Alfred Stieglitz in camera Work, and were published with regularity in the British periodical Photograms Of The Year. Like many of his Pictorialist colleagues Job, utilized a variety of print techniques, including the platinum, gum bichomate and bromoil processes, however, his preferred method was the carbon print, a technique which allowed him to express his Impressionistic concerns.
