[ Photographs ] Langman, Elizar Untitled (Skiers). Vintage silver print, 7 x 9.5 inches, with notations, in Cyrillic, and English, in pencil, on verso. Circa 1930 E3500-4500 Elizar Langman was a close colleague of Rodchenko and Ignatovich, and attributed his maturity as a professional photojournalist to their artistic influence. According to the scholar Margarita Tupitsyn "Langman applied slanting to a photo still as a form of protest. "Langman himself claimed, "I had to irritate the viewer with something, to kick him out of a dull standard " See Tupitsyn's The Soviet Photographer, 1924-37 (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1996), p. 83
