Platinum print on tissue, 7.75 x 6inches. 1903 E1200-1800 One Of The Most Noted and Awarded Works Of The Oregon Photo-Secessionist Myra Wiggins (1869-1956 , "Polishing Brass" was shown in numerous exhibitions including ones at the Corcoran Gallery and the Carnegie Institute. The work, a favorite of Alfred Stieglitz (who renamed the photograph "At Work"), was an important one in Wiggins oeuvre, being included in the 1906 invitational show "The Work of the Women Photographer's of America," and most notably, in the open section of the Photo-Secession exhibition at Buffalo'sAlbrightArt Gallery, where it sold to publisher Spencer Kellogg of Buffalo. This image is reproduced in the book Witch Of Kodakery, The Photography Of Myra Albert Wiggins, 1869-1956 ( Washington State University Press, 1997 p. Viii.
