(PHOTOGRAPHY.) Houston Post Office Employees, Nov. 1st, 1922.

(PHOTOGRAPHY.) Houston Post Office Employees, Nov. 1st, 1922. Panoramic sepia toned group photograph, 46-1/2 x 8 inches, negative marked "Vermillion photo" in lower right corner. In what appears to be the original oak frame. Houston, 1922

  • Notes: A rare and important photograph. The group is literally divided into two sections; the African Americans on the left an the white workers on the right. Interestingly, the black group is almost entirely made up of uniformed postal workers, whereas the white component is rather varied with only eleven men in uniform. Most of the whites are in suits and ties. In front and center is a little boy in a sailor's uniform.
