PIERRE ALECHENSKY
Hayterophiles (Atelier 17, Paris 1952-1953).

Portfolio with copmplete text and 11 etchings (5 printed in colors), 1968. 375x555 mm; 14 3/4x21 7/8 inches (sheets), full margins, loose as issued.

Each etching signed and numbered 26/30 in pencil, lower margin. Printed by Jean Clerté, Bougival. Published by La Hune, Paris. Original gray linen portfolio folder. Very good impressions.

Pierre Alechinsky (born 1927) studied with Hayter at Atelier 17 in the early 1950s and had his first solo exhibition in Paris in 1954. He is frequently associated with the COBRA school of abstract painting predominantly from northern Europe. This portfolio records Alechinsky's experiences at Atelier 17 and is a fitting homage to Hayter's re-establishment of the studio in Paris after 1950. Rivière 85-95.
