  • Notes: The December 1715 issue includes an account of the final confession and execution of the Scottish pirate Alexander Dalzeel, a colleague of pirate Henry Avery. He admitted to "murders, by tying People Neck and Heels, after they had taken their Ships and Cargoes, and throwing them into the Sea" (pages 594-595). The September 1717 issue includes a 15 September "Order and Proclamation for Suppressing Pyrates": "The Pyrates are grown so numerous that they infest not only the seas near Jamaica, but even those of the Northern Continent of America," with a list of British naval vessels employed in "annoying the Pyrates," and describing the pirate base in the Bahamas (pages 293-296). The April 1718 issue describes pirates Leslie and Nichols and others at the Isle of Providence surrendering gladly under the new amnesty proclamation (pages 447-448). The June 1718 issue elaborates on the success of the pirate amnesty at the Isle of Providence, leaving "but two Pirate Sloops at Sea, and that those were gone on the coast of Guiney, and from thence designed on Brasil" (pages 628-629).
