PLINIO COGDONATO (1878-1940) ANATRICOGENO.

54 1/2x38 1/2 inches. D. Loen, Milan.
Condition B-: restored losses affecting image; replaced top margin; restoration, creases and repaired tears along vertical and horizontal folds.
Trained as a painter, Cogdonato did a lot of illustration and advertising work, often inspired by historical themes. He was also a prolific poster designer who received commissions from most of Italy's largest advertisers such as Campari, Cinzano, Fiat and Pirelli. This poster, in a similar style to Marcello Dudovich's, is selling a hair tonic. And even though his case seems beyond hope, this bald gentleman certainly seems delighted to be offered this miraculous product by such a charming lady.
