Welles. Two partly-printed DsS, as Secretary of the Navy, to an unnamed sailor, relieving of duties aboard the USS Brooklyn, or ordering to report for duty aboard the USS Agawam. Each additionally accomplished and countersigned by Lieutenant George Dewey, the second additionally signed by Commander George Frederick Pearson. Each 1 page, 4to, "Navy Department" stationery, each with integral blank; horizontal folds, staining at upper and middle right edge of first, integral blank of second pasted to verso. McKinley. Partly-printed vellum DS, as President, appointing Charles Custis Rogers Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. Countersigned by Secretary of the Navy John D. Long. 19½x14¾ inches; few creases at upper and lower edges, faint scattered soiling, paper seal intact.
