First edition, small octavo, a translation and abridgment of Polydore Vergil's De Inventoribus Rerum prepared by Thomas Langley (d. 1581); lacking text leaves e8 & s6 (the first supplied in photocopy facsimile) and final ?blank; woodcut arms of Edward VI on verso of final preface leaf; bound in later full parchment over boards; ex libris Mary Herbert with her bookplate; 5 U.S. copies listed in ESTC; this variant with a2r catchword: 'lyfe'; and "Cum priuilegio ad imprimendum solum" at foot of title; title page dusty, a7 torn with an old repair; top outside leaf corners clipped at an angle; other old tears and stains;
