Mounted with front covers only; in the original reddish brown calf-backed cloth-covered boards; quite worn, contents clean; partial title, 'Envelopes' on the spine with 'G.W.   • Notes: Contains a fine representation of the innumerable designs of 'patriotic covers' popular during the Civil War. Includes a variety of makers: Carpenter & Allen of Boston, Blom & Smith of New York, F.K. Kimball, New York, J.M. Whittemore, Boston and many more. Some of the finest, and most sophisticated in this album are those of F. K. Kummel of New York, with their exquisite hand-coloring.
