Condition A-: crease through bottom right corner; minor abrasions in margins and image. Hand signed by artist in pencil.
Born in Meiringen, Bruggerr studied at his parent's Art School in the same city, where he learned lithography. He went on to become a painter of great renown, and was a member of the group Neue Leben, along with Hans Arp, Augusto Giacometti, Otto Morach, Francis Picabia, Niklaus Stoecklin and others. This poster for a museum exhibition, with its starkly urban feel, stands in abrupt comparison to his paintings from the same period, which were marked, by mountainous landscapes and other natural scenes. The image is a simple, geometric rendering of buildings surrounding a square, and displays effective use of perspective and the blank area of the paper, representing the square. He is known to only have designed one other poster.
