This interesting modernist image employs the cross-diagonals of the page. From the upper left to the lower right the page is dissected by telephone lines running from a pole. On the opposite diagonal are three telephones, two in outline, the other in solid color. The nature of this maquette is unclear, in that offering telephones as "The Best Line" implies that they must be better than something else. But we know of no other communication technology that was competing for the public's attention.
