This is an interesting political document showing a photograph of three African-American children printed against an eye-catching yellow background. This poster, an unexpected precursor to the civil rights movement, is part of an important campaign that followed the Second World War, of which the most famous images were created by Ben Shahn. While most of the posters addressed the laborforce (welders, farmers, etc.), this image made a seldom-seen social and ethnic appeal. In 1955, the CIO merged with the American Federation of Labor.
