Beall designed three separate series for the Rural Electrification Administration; 1937, 1939 and 1941. This image is from the third series that concretely showed how electricity could be used. "Emphasizing electricity's tangible benefits [it] radiates well-ordered, abundant domesticity: from the contented housewife's perfect biscuits to the abstracted flag, in which stars are replaced by cheerful, feminine polka dots" (Resnick p. 65).
