POSTER: OTTOMAR ANTON (1895-1976) NACH SUDAMERIKA IN 3 TAGEN! 45x32 inches. [Muhlmeister & Johler, Hamburg.]
OTTOMAR ANTON (1895-1976) NACH SUDAMERIKA IN 3 TAGEN!
45 5/8x32 1/2 inches. [Muhlmeister & Johler, Hamburg.]
Condition B+: creases and repaired tears at edges, some affecting image and text; minor restoration in image.
Large enough to visibly span the oceans, the Graf Zeppelin (sister ship of the ill-fated Hindenburg) is on its way across the Atlantic. After several widely publicized voyages (including around the world in 1929, which made her the first airship to ever cross the Pacific Ocean non-stop), the Graf Zeppelin settled into a regular transatlantic route in 1930. By the time she was taken out of service in 1937 (barely a month after the Hindenburg disaster) she had made a total of 143 Atlantic crossings. Several different variations of this poster exist, one with stops depicted in Berlin and Hamburg. This variation is the extremely rare large format. Airlines p. 36.
