Strongly influenced by the Art-Nouveau movement of the 1890s, Peter Max was one of the originators of Psychedelic and Pop art in the 1960s. Hewas one of the movement's most prolific artists and has certainly been one of the most enduring. From 1966 on, he published a series of images that played with fin-de-siecle artistic techniques and made reference to a variety of events and ideas that stemmed from current music, cinema, and cultural happenings. This image is not just a who's who of the icons of 1950s and 1960s rock and roll, but a psychedelic, kaleidoscopic family tree of rock royalty.
