Founded in 1898 and in business until 1972, Ebingers Bakery was a Brooklyn institution for decades. By the time the company folded, they had locations all across the metropolitan New York area. From their original location on Flatbush Avenue they were perhaps most famous and best remembered for their All Chocolate Blackout Cake, a recipe that still evokes wonderful childhood memories of the sugary delicacy. These humorous, kitschy window cards promote various baked goods sold by the company, primarily using cartoons and bold color combinations.
