[ Posters ] KENNETH SHOESMITH CANADIAN PACIFIC / BEAUTIFUL LAKE LOUISE 1930 40x24 inches S C Allen, London Condition A: unobtrusive vertical and horizontal folds Two women are enjoying the view of Lake Louise and the distant, glacier covered Mount Victoria from a large picture window Lake Louise came to be known in 1882 when Tom Wilson, an explorer and route finder for the Canadian Pacific Railway, was led there by a member of a local Indian tribe The area, like many of the towns in the Rockies, owes its original growth and prosperity to tourists brought by Canadian Pacific In 1890 the railway built the Chalet Lake Louise, a small hotel near the lake, which was directly connected to the mainline station via an abandoned tram line The hotel (quite possibly the one pictured here) exists today as The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Canadian Pacific 74 Estimate E2 000-3 000
